Today I met with my supervisor for the first time. To set up this meeting, I emailed Ms. Stephanie to set up a meeting and asked her what time would be good for her to meet. I met her on day C advisory, since that’s the time we are allowed to have, and also because she was free on that time.
When I met with her, we talked about my topic choice, global context and went through the rubric together. She informed me of some things that will happen when other teachers grade my report and product, how I will need to make things very clear and meet each bullet point on the rubric very clearly, so that I can score the highest. This type of information is very useful for me, she’s telling me things I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Your topic, goal, and global context and justifications for why you chose them I’ve gone and had my topic selection meeting with Mr. Jesse. In that meeting, I brought this very broad topic, which was that I wanted to sort of figure out who I am as an artist, so the aim of the meeting was to narrow down that to a specific topic. After throwing around quite a few ideas, we came to the conclusion that my goal for the Personal Project will be to express myself musically through original compositions and/or remixes and adaptations. I chose this because it keeps everything quite open. How I want to work towards that goal isn’t set in stone. Maybe it’s researching about different styles of music or how to remix a song. Maybe it’s learning more about songwriting, the possibilities are endless for me. I also chose this because I love music and I always want to know more about it. I wanted a chance to take all the skills I’ve learnt already and further them through a project. My global context I have chosen will be Personal and Cultural Expression, more specifically only personal expression, because my goal is based around me finding out who I am as a musician or artist and how I can express myself musically.
